trip to ananya - part2

Every visit to Ananya brings out one new aspect about its philosophy. This time it was the turn to learn about the kids at Ananya.

For all the visitors, there was a small presentation by Dr. Shashi Rao. The presentation had pictures of the kids in first part. Everyone had to write about what they feel after seeing the pictures. All the kids where smiling and looked happy. After each picture we were asked to write 5 points we notice about the child after seeing the picture. It’s not an easy work. Still we did it.

In the second half of the presentation, Dr Shashi told us about all those children one by one; their background, their family, their nature and Sometimes their dreams too. Not many of our observation were true.

It’s not easy to judge someone from seeing just one picture. So our failure was not very surprising. Moreover the idea was not to rate our understanding about the kids. What we saw in those pictures were the kids in their happiest of moments, Kids in their life in Ananya. They have a past that is mostly painful. They have seen their fathers die, they have seen their mother beaten up by their father; some of them have worked to earn their bread, some have been beggar. Too many different storied behind each one of them.

But when given an opportunity, they all enjoy the moments. They want to learn, they want to live a respectful life. They all have dreams that they really want to fulfill. At Ananya, they try their best to make them a reality. Some of them get up as early as 5:30 so that they could reach the Hockey practice in Shantinagar in time. They travel by bus all the way to the practice. They come back and start their studies. How many of us can do that?

So the idea here is that give them opportunity and you will get many more happy faces and your own satisfied heart.

will wirte more on the same topic some other time.
