EuroTrip Photos

Finally, I have been able to sort the photos that we have taken in last couple of weeks. With more than 5000 photos to be checked, it was not an easy task. Right now I have reached a level of around 1000 photos, which still is very high. It will take one more round of sorting, I guess.

For those, who wanted to have a look at the EuroTrip in more colorful ways, I have uploaded the best of the photos in my picassa web album. The photos should summarize the best of the moments from this trip.

Here is the link to the photos - http://picasaweb.google.com/8priteshj

Needless to say, your comments are more than welcome.

Photo Count 3000

A photographer sees the world from behind his lens. There are five photographers amongst us. Together we have taken more than 3000 photos by now, that too in just last couple of days. It alarms a bell in my mind. Even though Pooch does a really good job collecting a day's work and tagging it, will we ever get to sort them? And upload?

With 5 cameras simultaneously at work, we are capturing the moments from each ones point of view. No one can be denied his/her creativity.
And then there is this thing about memory space, battery charge and photo size. Kya karen kya na karen? Some days we will hope that the old camera with Kodak roll should not have survived some more.

Behind the Camera

I have got more than 20,000 photos on my system. Unfortunately not even 10% of them will have me. Being behind the camera has its own disadvantages. You see the world, but the world does not get to see your face. There is a solution - self-portraits. But I cannot indulge myself into it as I feel they are gross self-obsession. Last few months, I seem to have got lucky in getting photographed. I have never got so much screen presence as I got in the engagement ceremony. I don’t complaint. It was one of the most important days in my life. And I deserve all what I got that day.

And then I got lucky again. This time, thanks to a friend of mine. Doc (Gibbup Doc, as we affectionately call him) took this photo of mine at the sunset point in Mount Abu. It was a cloudy evening and rains were just minutes away. Lights were just perfect as the sun was playing hide and seek behind the dark clouds. Doc zoomed the camera on my face, not copying the other shots that I had taken by then. I did not know what he was upto. But I sat still. The result is beautiful. It is one of the best photos that I have featured in.

I titled this photo “I saw a dream...

Thanks a lot Doc.

And here is one more first

And for the first time I have won a photography contest. It was a competition organized by the photography club "Perspective." My photo was chosen as 2nd best amongst the lot. It was a competiton open to all fachchas.

Theme: Lights and Shadows

Title: The path to heaven.
Here is what the judges have to say about the photo -
2nd Prize goes to Pritesh Jain for the pic titled "The path to heaven" (Dorm). ACP to the title :) The play of different coloured light makes this pic stand out. The angle and the thin lace of shadow adds that extra to the pic.

Don't ask me I thought that much about this picture. It was just a random shot that I took on the day we had our first photoshoot for Placement Brochure.

Through My Eyes

I am not very photogenic. And I realized this fact very early. I also realized that I can do better with my eyes behind the lens. Things that I see through my eyes are invisible to many. It's the objective nature. We all see what our eyes want to see.

Sometime I feel good about a certain angle and I try to imagine myself getting portrayed in it. It's not very easy to convey this learning to others and many a times I end up having someone else's face in the picture. I remain behind the camera.

This photo of Harsh is one such case. I so much wanted to be in Harsh's place. But somehow the picture with me in that position did not come that good. Perspective it is. This time someone else was behind the camera.

sky is the limit

odd one out

I call these trees 'odd one out' coz they are the lone warriors of their kind. Standing amidst the tall bamboo trees, lush green tea gardens and dark green coffee plantations. Saw them on the way to Edekkal Caves. As seen in the photo, this plot belongs to a church. And if you see from close, you will realize it is actually used as a cemetery.

Are they trying to say something about what is buried beneath them? Are the deads are saying something to us?
Who knows!!!

Strange indeed!!!
